Guiding Light ran for 72 years and had over 15,000 episodes. A statement on CBS didn’t disclose the reason for pulling the series of off the air and didn’t give further information on what will fill the time slot.

The show stars Tina Sloan as Lillian Raines, Ron Raines as Alan Spaulding.

CBS Entertainment president Nancy Tellem said, “Guiding Light has achieved a piece of television history that will never be matched; it has crossed mediums, adapted its stories to decades of social change and woven its way through generations of audiences like no other, this daytime icon will always be an indelible part of CBS’s history…. Its contributions will always be celebrated and never be forgotten.”

Mischa will play a part on “A Beautiful Life”.

Barton will play Sonja, a supermodel and veteran of the high-fashion circuit who is struggling to keep on top and is in danger of slipping.

Barton can bring personal experience to the role as she has modeled for such companies as Calvin Klein, bebe stores, Aeropostale, Monsoon Accessorize, Dooney & Bourke and JC (Jeans and Clothes).

Barton used to play troubled teenager Marissa Cooper on “The OC.”

Executive producer, Howard Gordan told Ew.com, “We had a couple of scripts that we weren’t happy with. We just couldn’t get this direction to work, and we found another one that we liked better, so we wound up retooling it.”

Despite the delay, the drama is ahead of schedule and set to air the seventh season in January 2009. This season won’t be affected by the production halt.

Of course, the former Friends star took the news with grace. She said: “It just got canceled. We’re (she and husband David Arquette) developing all kinds of stuff right now. We’ll [be] producing more stuff together, for sure.”

David Arquette and Courteney Cox produced the series together, but it must not have resonated with viewers.. so farewell to this TV series..

The survey by the University of Michigan on Tuesday showed customer satisfaction with cable and satellite TV firms is up from last year and higher than at any point since the research was launched in 2001.

However, the industry remains at the low end of rankings across all sectors, with a 64 average satisfaction rating, up a from last year’s 62 rating, out of a possible 100. This tied the sector with newspapers and bested only the troubled airline industry. The federal government earned a 68 satisfaction rating in another ACSI survey in December.

Numbers this bad mean the industry could one day face a max-exodus. Maybe the Netflix Set Top Box is the key that does them in?

“I shouldn’t say we’re doing the Eliot Spitzer story. I should say we’re doing a story about a politician who gets into trouble because of sexual questions … involving prostitution,” Waterston told the AP.

“It goes in all different directions,” he continued. “`Law & Order’ raises questions about what’s fair, what’s right, what’s justice, that aren’t necessarily raised by the original story or … can’t be gone into in just a news story.”

So there you have it. The idea just looks exactly like the Elliot Spitzer but it really isn’t.

Juanita Bynum and Thomas Weeks III in happier times.

The couple is going to get divorced in a two episode Divorce Court show. Mr. Weeks III assaulted Juanita and now she wants out. According to police reports he kicked, stomped and choked her in an Atlanta hotel parking lot last August. He was sentenced to three years probation for the assault.

Juanita Bynum told the judge:

“I was just trying to make it work because I don’t like losing relationships,” Bynum told Judge Lynn Toler, who hears cases on the syndicated show distributed by Twentieth Television. “All of this just kept getting swept under the rug … So you begin to adapt to a very wrong and very unhealthy marriage.”

Bynum and Weeks will present their case in Divorce Court on Thursday and Friday of this week.

Bynum is a former hairdresser and flight attendant who became a Pentecostal evangelist, author and gospel singer. Weeks is the founder of Global Destiny churches.

Conspiracists see clues to the phantom-channel theory everywhere including the suspicious lack of detail in the launch announcement, which was oddly scheduled on a Sunday afternoon — read by some as an attempt to evade scrutiny in the media or on Wall Street.

Viacom had no comment on the suggestion, but a source close to the studios said, “This is a real venture.”

More details are expected to emerge shortly. CBS and Showtime have been undergoing a number of changes in recent years and analysts say Showtime now makes most of their revenue from original programming the create.

Paul McGuire, a CW spokesman says:
“Gossip Girl is an extremely important show for The CW and we feel it can be a signature breakout for its return,This is an experiment for us.”

Now if you miss a television show Hulu.com gives you another opportunity to tune in on “your time” to an extensive lineup of TV shows and movies. You’ll find series like Arrested Development, Fox News Specials, 30 Rock and the Westminster Dog Show.

I decided to give Hulu a try and see how it worked. There was no required software download, so this was a bonus. I decided to check out a clip. It downloaded pretty fast and ran okay on my cable connection, but the viewing screen is nothing like watching a large screen TV. In fact, the viewing
space is pretty small and every show has an advertisement.

It isn’t a bad idea.. hopefully with some development they’ll work some of the flaws out and it’ll be a viable way to watch TV later (or again.)
